MY JOURNEY

From Madrid to L.A

Jorge was born in Madrid, Spain, in late June, bringing into the world what some consider to be a dangerous combination: a Spanish Cancer man with a love for the performing arts. At sixteen, Jorge left his home country to attend a small private school in Wilkes-Barre, PA. There, he fell in love with algebra. Kidding, it was acting!

In 2015 he auditioned for several well-respected drama schools and got into exactly none of them, so he decided to fuel his other passion: creative writing. Thus, he found himself in Boston, at Emerson College, where he put pen to paper and wrote short fiction, plays and poetry until his actor voice got loud again.

Then, the world half-ended, sending him into a period of what he’d refer to as “depressive emotional isolation”. After a few months of that, he finally decided to give his dreams a chance and made his way into the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School, where said turmoil translated into guttural moaning and rolling on borrowed yoga mats.

In the summer between his second and third year at the school, Jorge made his Off-Broadway debut in the award nominated Chasing Andy Warhol as part of Bated Breath Theater's company of devising artists. The immersive play was a huge critical and popular success, getting nominated by Broadway World for Best New Play and Best Production of a Play among others.

That same summer, Jorge took part in the prestigious UNFIX festival as part of a devised piece titled Grownups. UNFIX is a festival for performance and ecological activism which originated in Scotland. Ren Gyo Soh, a multi-award winning Butoh theatre group was inspired by these ideas to bring a version of the festival to New York City as Ren Gyo Soh's annual festival.

Jorge graduated from the Actors Studio Drama School in May of 2023. He culminated his training by starring in two productions at the ASDS Repertory Season in Downtown Manhattan. Red Sky Summer and Heroes of the Fourth Turning served to put the final touch on a fantastic three years at the school.

Additionally, Jorge has become a finalist at the world famous Actors Studio, where he attends weekly sessions to keep learning from his peers and masters in the field of acting.

In just a few months since graduating, Jorge has made his Shakespearean debut as Enobarbus in Hamlet Isn't Dead's Antony and Cleopatra, as well as returned to Off-Broadway theater as Tom in Wendy Biller's Beatrice, a production that ran at The Cell theatre in Chelsea as a part of the theatre's highly selective artist-in-residency program.

When he's not on stage, you can usually find Jorge yelling at his TV in Spanish when Real Madrid is playing or running by the Westside Highway (please don’t follow).
